The Winbot W2 Omni is ECOVACS’ newest window-cleaning robot. It’s the first of its kind to feature a portable station, allowing full window cleaning capabilities even without nearby outlets.
With multiple cleaning settings, this robot handles quick touch-ups inside, deep cleans exterior windows, and everything in between. Thanks to its portable, rechargeable station, it can reach any glass pane, no matter how far from the nearest outlet.
Clean windows are crucial for making your house shine, but the Winbot W2 Omni doesn’t stop there. It can clean shower glass, wall tiles, mirrors, and virtually any smooth vertical or slanted surface in your home.
I’ve tested this window cleaning robot on these surfaces and more in my own home.

Setup and Installation
Setting up the Winbot W2 Omni was a breeze. I simply hit the power button and filled the water tank, and this cleaner was off to the races.
Installing the app, for those who want to take full control of the robot’s many features, was also very simple. From the app, you can switch cleaning modes, use the remote control function, and pause cleaning.
It’s worth noting that the Winbot uses Bluetooth to communicate with the app, not Wi-Fi. Since this cleaner, like all window robots, requires a lot of hands-on operation, it makes sense to choose a connectivity method that requires proximity.
Performance
The Winbot’s capable microfiber cleaning pad and dual-spray nozzles effectively clean glass and other smooth surfaces. I’d doubted that water alone would suffice to remove grime from my windows, but this cleaner proved highly effective in most cases.
Messes it cleaned easily:
- Skin oil and fingerprints
- Dog slobber
- Dust and dried-on dirt
- Fresh hard water stains
- Dried rain spots
Where “Deep Cleaning” mode was required:
- Toothpaste splatter
- Dried-on liquid messes
- Opaque film on shower doors
Where it struggled:
- Set-in hard water stains
- Dried on debris
The only major performance issue I noticed was the inconsistent water spray. Sometimes it wouldn’t spray at all, and I’d need to restart the cleaning process to get it working again.
As for noise level, this cleaner’s definitely loud enough that you’ll need to turn up the TV, but it’s an easy “white noise” sound to get used to.
The battery life’s impressive too. I cleaned all the windows and the large four-panel slider on our main floor, inside and out, on a single charge.
Usability
In terms of usability, this product really defied expectations. Its portable nature and long cord make it super easy to clean any smooth vertical surface without worrying about finding an outlet. Starting the robot is as simple as turning it on and pressing it to the vertical surface.
Currently, the associated app for the Winbot has fairly limited functionality. It’s mainly used to choose your cleaning mode. There aren’t any push notifications to warn you when cleaning is complete, and other performance controls are limited.
You’ll need the app for the remote control function. This allows you to manually control where the robot goes as it cleans. Surfaces with thin raised edges, handles, thin hinges, and other features that cause suction issues may need cleaning using the remote control function.
Maintenance
The maintenance for this device is fairly straightforward. You’ll need to clean and re-wet the pad frequently during use, especially when dealing with dirty windows. Fortunately, this task is very easy to accomplish.
You’ll also need to refill the water tank about twice per charge. Again, this is easy thanks to the provided water bottle, which is housed inside the portable station.
It does take a bit of time to get the robot ready and set up for each new window. For homes with small windows, it probably won’t save you much time compared to manual cleaning. However, for outside window cleaning and homes with many smooth vertical surfaces, the time and labor savings are well worth the maintenance requirements.
Safety Features
This robot boasts multiple safety features to prevent falls. Edge sensors, auto air compensation, high suction, and five other features work together to keep it firmly attached to the surface it’s cleaning until you’re ready to remove it.
When it’s finished cleaning, it’ll stay put until you take it off. Even if the battery runs low, it’ll remain stuck to the surface for at least 30 minutes.
I’ve put it through numerous trials to test these safety features. Most of the time, it compensated and continued cleaning. In a few situations, it entered high suction mode, flashed red, and warned me to remove it from the surface. It only started to slip down the wall once (when it crossed the gap between my shower wall and door) and never fell.
Price and Value
The Winbot W2 Omni’s price is quite resonable. While you’ll find some smaller, less intelligent window robots at lower prices, most comparable products cost much more. None of them offer the same portability as this option.
Compared to manual cleaning costs, this option’s more expensive. But if you’ve got lots of windows to clean or tall, hard-to-reach surfaces, the Winbot’s worth it for the time savings alone.
Conclusion
Overall, the ECOVACS Winbot W2 Omni’s a highly capable robot window cleaner with plenty of functionality. It easily outshines its competitors with its portable, rechargeable station that works even when outlets aren’t within reach.
Like all window robots, it’ll bring the most value to homes with many hard-to-clean smooth surfaces. Its portability and versatility also make it uniquely useful for cleaning exterior windows and other difficult-to-access areas.
