The Hathaspace Air Purifier 2.0 has a high 450 CADR rating and is powerful enough to use in spaces as large as 700 square feet. The sleek control panel, multiple modes, and slim design make it super user-friendly. But it’s the air quality indicator—in the form of a color-coded light and digital readout—that really impressed.
Of course, we wouldn’t be recommending this product if it didn’t also do a great job purifying the air. Here, the Hathaspace continued to perform like a premier unit, rivaling the purifying power of more recognizable names. The 5-stage HEPA filter and max airflow setting make this one of the more effective home purifiers I have had the pleasure to test.
While some of the marketing claims about this unit are a little exaggerated, its true capabilities are still impressive enough to place this purifier high on my list. And given that it costs less than half that of most competitors on that list, I’d say it’s a pretty dang good buy.

It is slimmer and sleeker than others in this size class and comes with a host of features that make it highly useful for a variety of needs.

Hathaspace Air Purifier 2.0 Overview
Hathaspace is an American company based out of Florida with manufacturing plants in China. They got their start in 2017 and have launched a number of air purifier lines, including a newer range of HEPA filter products.
The Hathaspace HSP002 Air Purifier is the larger model in this line of purifiers. Compared to the HSP001, which is marketed for rooms up to 700 square feet, the HSP002 is for spaces up to 1,500 square feet.
Aside from this, the HSP002 also boasts the following improvements versus the HSP001:
- An updated control panel
- Sleeker design
- H13 HEPA filter
- Separate washable pre-filter
The HEPA pre-filter, cold catalyst filter and activated carbon filter are retained in the HSP002.
In addition to the mentioned improvement, the HSP002, which is listed under the name ‘Hathaspace Air Purifier 2.0,’ also comes with other features, including:
- A digital air quality readout
- A visual color-coded air quality light
- Three speeds plus a max speed setting
- Auto mode
- Timer function (1 to 12 hours)
- Sleep mode (lights out, low fan speed)
I had a chance to put these features to the test in person when I received my own Hathaspace Air Purifier 2.0 to review. While the marketing claims about its coverage were overstated, this purifier mostly impressed. At times, it even rivaled the many premier purifiers I have tested in the past.

How the Hathaspace HSP002 Performs
I have tested dozens of air purifiers from massive units powerful enough to cleanse the whole house to personal portable purifiers for the desk. Given the price point of this unit, I expected it to fall toward the lower end of that power scale.
I found out very quickly you shouldn’t judge an air purifier by its price tag.

Air Purifying Performance
The HSP002 is marketed as having a room coverage rating of 1500 square feet. As is usually the case, this number is inflated compared to what the CADR rating indicates.
The CADR of the Hathaspace 2.0 is 450. Experts recommend the CADR represent at least ⅔ the size of the room to assure the minimum number of air transfers per hour is achieved. Using this logic on the HSP002 gives us a room coverage rating of just under 700 square feet.
Still, a CADR of 450 is quite impressive. The CADR of the Alen Breathesmart 75i, for instance, is only 347 CFM. So, while Hathaspce did stretch the truth a bit on the coverage, it is still plenty powerful compared to similar-sized units.
This power is a product of both the motor inside the unit and the efficiency of the filter.
The H13 True HEPA filter captures large and small particles at over 99.97% efficiency. I put this filter to the test by lighting an oil lamp inside and letting it fill the room with smoke, odor, and VOCs (do not try this at home!).
The air quality monitor on the unit (and on my independent Alen air quality measurer) shot up from around 7 PM to 500 PM (the highest reading) in about one minute.
I removed the oil lamp and left the unit running on automatic in the 100 square foot room with the door closed. The air quality dropped back into the “excellent range” within 30 minutes.
While the room was much smaller than the unit’s capacity, this performance was still impressive given the saturation of pollutants in the air.
Other tests revealed the unit does a great job removing allergens and dust, a good job filtering VOCs and micropollutants, and a fair job removing odors.
Build Quality
One thing I immediately liked about the HSP002 was the build. Like many other new purifiers, it features a magnetic front panel that makes accessing the filter super easy. It also has a very sleek control panel that is all digital touch, which means there are no buttons to clean around.
The body of the unit is about as tall as my Alen Breathesmart but much slimmer, which makes placing it in the home a little easier. Like the Alen, it is designed with side intakes so it can be placed flush against the wall.
The five-year warranty that comes with this unit should tell you everything you need to know about the quality of the materials used. Users who have run into problems with the components (the air quality monitor seems to give people the most trouble) have had no problem getting replacements using the warranty.
One minor issue with the build is that there is no lock function for the digital display. This is problematic for two reasons. One, the unit is short enough for kids to reach the buttons. And two, the control panel is on the top where kitties are likely to walk across it and disturb the settings.
Maintenance and Upkeep
One big improvement of this unit over the smaller model is the inclusion of the washable prefilter. This fine mesh screen can be removed and run under water to remove pet hair and dust, extending the life of the single-unit, multi-layer HEPA filter. This is a great feature for pet owners.
Even still, the filter itself does not last as long as others in this size class. The manual recommends replacing the filter every 3,000 run hours or about every four months.
The filters run about $70 each, making this one of the more expensive purifiers I’ve tested in terms of maintenance costs.
Usability
One of my favorite features of the Hathaspace is the digital air quality readout. Unlike the color-coded light on the front of the unit, this readout gives you precise reading from 0 to 500 PM (particulate matter), so you know exactly where the air quality in your home sits.
For use in the living room and bedroom, the low fan speed clocked it at just 25.7 dB, which was only a few clicks louder than the background rating. On the max setting, this output rose to 53 dB, which is loud, but still not as noisy as many competitor units.
The unit also has a sleep mode setting. However, it is not customizable.
In sleep mode, the unit will automatically switch to low fan speed, and all the lights will go out. While the no-light piece is a must on this otherwise very bright unit, the low fan speed is less than helpful if the air quality in your room is not already excellent.
One other issue with usability that I noted was that the unit takes quite a while to start up.
The digital air quality indicator will start around 100 and count up or down until it reaches the current air quality measured in the room. The auto function won’t begin adjusting the fan speed until this level is reached, which can take up to a full minute.
Operating Costs
This EnergyStar-rated unit, unsurprisingly, is very affordable to run.
The average air purifier uses around 50 watts on the medium fan setting. On low, this unit used around 5.5 watts. On max speed, this only jumped to around 55 watts. This means you could leave your Hathaspace running 24/7 on auto mode and only see an additional $0.60 to $6 on your energy bill at the end of the month.
Note: It is worth mentioning that the unit does vampire when powered off. While it sucks only a minimal amount of energy in this state, it is still worth unplugging it if you aren’t going to be using it.
Hathaspace HSP002 Air Purifier Alternatives
Considering what you get for the price, the HSP002 Hathaspace Air Purifier is a great option for dealing with dust, allergens, smoke, VOCs, and other pollutants in medium to large spaces. But, if you’re after something a little smaller or something with a little more to offer, there are other options out there.
For smaller spaces, like the bedroom, the Okaysou Apollo 630 is a great choice. It has a CADR rating of 122, and we recommend it for spaces up to 200 square feet. It is simple to use, very quiet, and has a lights-out mode that is perfect for the bedroom.
If you’re after a purifier that can do more than just filter the air, the AirOasis iAdapt Air is a great choice. In addition to a HEPA filter, this unit also utilizes an ionizer and UV lights to neutralize pathogens in the air. Plus, it comes in three sizes and can connect to wifi to be controlled by your smartphone.

Final Word on the Hathaspace HSP002 Air Purifier
When you buy an air purifier, you expect it to be powerful enough to remove allergens, odors, and other pollutants from your home while offering enough functionality to meet your changing needs. Most premier brand purifiers do this, and so does the remarkably less expensive HSP002 Hathaway Air Purifier.
